South Africa Overview and Stellenbosch with Murray Barlow from Rustenberg wines
Murray Barlow gives us an overview of South Africa and Stellenbosch, soil types and the warm, Mediterranean climate. It is mountainous with some vineyards planted on hillsides at higher altitudes. Murray's grandfather in the 1930's purchased a part of Rustenberg and later purchased the rest of the estate but the winery's history goes back way further to the early 1700s.
We also discuss leaf roll virus which is spread by insects and causes the leaves to turn a burgundy red colour, meaning the vines cant photosynthesize and ripen the fruit.
I thought the questions were excellent, an extremely valuable revision tool. They really helped highlight areas I thought I had revised and understood but clearly had not, which has enabled me to focus on key areas to revisit and study before going into the exam... I think it is a great resource and an essential revision aid for any WSET 3 students wishing to gain a competitive edge and successfully pass the WSET 3 exam.
