World Cup wine

The World Cup has not boosted wine sales despite Brazil being the third-largest wine producer in South America behind Argentina and Chile, with over 1,000 wineries producing wines, and most notably, Lidio Carraro, the official wine supplier for the FIFA 2014 World Cup, located in south-east Brazil. In the third week of the World Cup beer sales increased by 14%, sparkling wine by 13% and spirits up 10% whilst wine fell 3%, according to data from IRI and Wilson Drinks Report. Ale and Stout have also joined the World Cup party - while experts expected some drop off in sales with England's departure - the football actually got better and more exciting without England and consumers tuned in in volumes!
