Producer

The Cuatro Rayas winery in North West Spain dates back to 1935. Today it produces over 20% of the wine bottled from the Rueda appellation, making it the largest producer with an annual production level of 11 million bottles. Rueda is a wine region at the heart of the Iberian Peninsula, located just north-west of the Spanish capital, Madrid. It is known for its dry, aromatic white wines made predominantly from Verdejo, with small quantities of Viura and Sauvignon Blanc. These fresh, aromatic whites are an ideal complement to the heavy Tempranillo-based reds of neighboring Toro.

Region

Rueda is Located northwest of Madrid and just southwest of Ribera del Duero red wine region. Wine has been produced in the Rueda region commercially since the 11 th century. But the the region was revolutionized with the new ideas and technology brought by the Marques de Riscal, and has become famous for producing delightful, fresh and fruity white wines from the Verdejo. Sauvignon Blanc was also introduced, which blends sublimely with Verdejo
