Mas Igneus was founded in 1996, the result of a joint venture between Josep Maria Albet, Josep Maria Pujol-Busquets and initially the Poboleda Cooperative. In 2004, the cooperative left the society and Mas Igneus, together with a group of committed organic farmers from Poboleda and Porrera, moved to its new and definitive home in a purpose built cellar at their Costers de l'Ermita estate just outside Gratallops.
Grape varieties
Garnatxa Negra, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc
Region
Priorat is one of Spain's top red wine regions. Priorat along with Rioja are the only regions in Spain to gain the top DOCa status. In Spain there are two PDO's (protected Designation of Origin) DO's used by the likes of Ribera del Duero and Rias Baixas. While the top PDO is reserved only for Rioja and Priorat.
Style
Shiraz and Zinfandel both feature here due to the ripe fruit flavours overlaid with spice. For Shiraz you’ll notice white or black pepper on the nose where Zinfandel will remind you of a spicy fruitcake, think cherries & cinnamon. These wines smell good, look good and taste good.
