- UK Wine Show 160 Nicola Jenkins of WRAP on recycling - 1
Overview
WRAP helps individuals, businesses and local authorities to reduce waste and recycle more, making better use of resources and helping to tackle climate change. We interview Helen Jenkins to find out how WRAP relates to the wine industry.
The Waste and Resources Action Programme was established in 2000 to deal with the economics of recycling and work with retailers and manufacturers to reduce waste and recycle materials. They privately owned but funded by the government and help government work towards achieving EU directives such as landfill and CO2 reduction. The UK is the largest importer of wine and, through its GlassRite Wine project, WRAP is seeking to reduce the environmental impact of importing wine by encouraging the use of lighter-weight wine bottles and bulk importation of wine to the UK.
