- Vinolok with Siegfried Landskrone
Overview
Siegried Landskrone of Closure Systems International (CSI) talks to us about Vinolok, an innovative glass closure for wine.
CSI produce closures for many different markets including food & beverages. As well as producing screwcaps for wine they started developing a glass on glass closure in 2002. In 2004 they began commercial production of the Vinolok system. Vino-Lok is a glass stopper with a small plastic non-pvc liner system between the wine and the glass. The closure creates a completely airtight seal for the wine and so is ideally suited to wines that are designed to be drunk young. The core market is Europe but also some wineries in Napa Valley, Australia and South Africa have taken up the closure for both white wines (c.60%) and reds (40%). Consumer acceptance and response to the Vinolok has been fantastic with people liking the convenience aspects and the way it looks.
