WSET Level 2 Award in Wines Course

We are live-streaming the WSET Level 2 wine course online via Zoom during the pandemic and beyond, with a complete set of 38 wine samples provided within the £399 course fee, to taste alongside your tutor. The Level 2 exam is also online, remotely invigilated by the WSET via ProctorExam.

The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines is a three day course running over 3 consecutive Saturdays with the online exam a week later, on Day 4. No prior wine knowledge or qualification is needed to register for the course.

As soon as you register we will send you the Study Pack so that you can start prepping. We will also give you access to our flash cards and multi-choice exam questions.

WSET Level 2 Online (Live-Streamed) Course

  • Online course live-streamed via Zoom.
  • All of the wines needed for the course are provided in 50ml bottles - 38 wines in total.
  • The online exam is included in the course fee. The default exam day is the last day of the course, but you can request an alternative date if needed or a paper exam.

WSET Level 2 Online + Wines

An online course over 3 Saturdays with online exam and wines so that you can study at home, tasting the wines with your tutor.

  • Our Online course includes 38 wine samples within the £399 fee and the online exam, remotely invigilated
  • Most other providers DO NOT include wines within their fee but ask you to purchase in addition to the fee or source yourself
  • Each day is live-streamed via Zoom with your tutor so that you can ask questions and taste the same wines
  • You will be in a group of between 6 to 12 students, typically, with lots of interaction between the group and the tutor
  • Free access to 792 Flash Cards & 250 Exam Practice Questions
  • WSET Study Pack with text book provided on registration.
  • Free access to ThirtyFifty's 'Decoding the L2 SAT', a concise guide to how to taste using the WSET's Systematic Approach to Tasting. Students can use the guide at home to practice.
  • Four ISO tasting glasses to use at home and keep.
  • QFC Level 2.
  • A one hour online exam on Day 4 at 11am, consisting of 50 multiple-choice questions. A pass mark of 55% required.
  • If you do not wish to sit the online exam, you can request a paper exam in Twickenham. A minimum of 15 working days notice is required.
WSET Level 2 Classroom

Building on the Level 1, the Level 2 course offers a broad understanding of the principal grape varieties, the regions in which they are grown and the styles of wine produced. Through both tasting and theory, explore the factors that affect style and quality and how to describe wines using the WSET's tasting approach. Holders of the award should be able to interpret wine labels, understand the basic style behind the label and navigate a wine list with confidence.

  • How to taste and describe wine using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine (SAT).
  • Understand the factors that influence a wine's style, quality and price.
  • 8 principal grape varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah/Shiraz.
  • Interpret key labelling terms to understand the style, flavour and method of production of still, sparkling and fortified wines.
  • Principles of food and wine pairing and the storage and service of wine.
  • 38 different wines to taste across the 3 sessions.
  • Perfect for those employed in the wine industry or looking for their first role.
  • Run over 3 consecutive Saturdays or Mondays, the days can be interchangeable if required.
  • Full Student Pack, including text books and course books, provided.
  • QFC Level 2.
  • A one hour exam on Day 3 consisting of 50 multiple-choice questions. A pass mark of 55% required.

ThirtyFifty is a WSET Approved Programme Provider (APP), certified to offer the WSET Level 2 qualification as part of the UK's Qualifications and Credits Framework, regulated by Ofqual. We offer the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines as a 3 day course over 3 consecutive Mondays or Saturdays with the flexibility to swap between Mondays and Saturdays if you need to. The course is centrally located in London's Covent Garden.

The next step is normally the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines. While the Level 2 is not a prerequisite, you do need to demonstrate a deep understanding of wine to gain entry to the Level 3.
