- BevScan with Colin Jeffress
Overview
Colin Jeffress of Jeffco tells us about BevScan, a device for analysing wine using near infrared to classify and authenticate bottles without needing to open them and without causing damage.
BevScan (official title the BevScan Through Bottle Beverage Analyser & Classifier) uses near infrared technology to look through an unopened bottle of wine and produce a fingerprint of the wine so that it can be used to make future comparisons with other bottles of the same wine to see if there are any changes. This can be useful in detecting any damage (e.g. oxidation), vintage variation, authenticating the vintage as well as identifying a counterfeit wine. As yet it can't detect cork taint. Colin talks about the technology and the development of the device and its commercial applications. For more information visit www.jeffress.com.au
