Keith Moore of The Royal Society on Christopher Merret
This show was published 07 December 2012
In this second interview, Keith tells us more about Christopher Merret who had a strong interest in botany and agriculture but wrote papers on a wide range of subjects. He was also a curator at the College of Physicians. We also hear how, because the English produced much stronger glass than the French, it could withstand the pressure of sparkling drinks such as cider, perry and wine. This year, 2012, is the 350th anniversary of Merret's paper being submitted which outlines how to improve still wine by making it 'brisk and sparkling'.
The UK Wine Show is sponsored by ThirtyFifty. Our team of wine tasters are busy entertaining and educating UK consumers to help them get the most out of wine.
