Overview
Kevin Sutherland began working with Bluebell Vineyards in 2004 to advise on whether the land was viable as a vineyard. It was and with Kevin's help around 4 hectares were planted initially with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Kevin talks to us about the soils and aspect of the vineyard and describes the wines from the first 2007 vintage and 2008. Now another 17 hectares are being planted which will come into production in 2015, with wines not for release until 2017. Kevin is a New Zealander who came to the UK in 1988 and began his career in the wine industry in 1990 after studying at Plumpton College.
