- Monty Waldin on Central Tuscany Part 1
Overview
Winemaker and writer Monty Waldin is regional chair for Tuscany for Decanter World Wine Awards. In this interview we talk about some of the different regions of central Italy. Its a tricky region to get your head around but easy to remember that almost all reds will be Sangiovese based. Monty takes us around some of the regions and we focus in on Chianti in Tuscany - Classico is the historic centre of the regions and produces the best quality wines, but there are smaller Chianti regions to try. We also talk about the common use of French grapes in Tuscan wines and the region where Monty is based, Brunello di Montalcino, where the wines must be 100% Sangiovese.
