- FlavorActiV wine faults kit with Dale Smith and Marcia Waters MW
Overview
The FlavorActiV wine faults kit replicates 4 common wine faults: Volatile Acidity - the chemical that is used to recreate this is ethyl acetate which is similar to sweet solvent smell from nail varnish. Brettanomyces (though not necessarily always a fault) which has a sweaty sometimes cheesy or dairy character in wine. Mercaptans which cause sulphury volatile aromas, a problem the can be associated with screw cap wines. Finally, cork taint caused by the chemical TCA (2,4,6-Trichloroanisole). The kit will retail at around £50 and is available from wine@flavoractiv.com
