- Vannessa Koko Djaba on Ghana and the African Wine Scene
Overview
Vannessa Koko Djaba imports and distributes Italian wines to Ghana as well as supporting the wine producers by raising consumer awareness in African wine markets. Vannessa's company has a flagship retail outlet and online presence.
Africa has 54 countries with more established wine markets in the French colonised regions. The Anglophone areas such as Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya are starting to become the big markets for wine - traditionally the inhabitants were more used to drinking beer and spirits or soft drinks such as Coca-Cola. In contrast, in the Francophone areas of Africa (e.g. West Africa) wine was more often consumed due to the French colonial influence.
