Overview

Jennifer guides us through how to assess the quality of a wine at MW level. She does use BLIC (Balance, Length, Intensity, Complexity) but uses other techniques to pull together all the relevant information on the wine you are tasting.

Check plus minus technique - this forces you to put your evaluation of the wine into context:

Check - say what it is, where it belongs (market pricing) and why
Plus - say why it doesn't belong in the tier below
Minus - say why it doesn't belong in the tier above

Finesse, Balance, Length, Integration, Complexity, Concentration, Ageability and Typicity.

We talk about some of these quality attributes and how they relate specifically to wine.
