Harpers with editor Richard Siddle
This show was published 21 December 2007
Richard Siddle is editor at Harpers Wine and Spirits trade magazine. In the past Richard edited business magazines including Checkout and so his wine experience was as a consumer. He and his team are responsible for the relaunched version which they turned around in 8 weeks - quite a feat given Harpers was first launched 130 years ago in 1878. The new look combines the heritage of the old magazine with modern design. The revamp was in May 2007 and saw a radical change both in terms of content of the magazine and the website with free access and rolling daily news. The aim was to reconnect Harpers with the changing wine world, introduce more elements on the business side of the industry and connect with every part of the supply chain. Harpers remains asubscription only magazine so is not available in newsagents. For 2008 Harpers are planning awards schemes, on trade roadshows aimed at sommeliers, restaurant and bar staff, conferences and round tables. For more information check out the Harpers website at www.harpers.co.uk.
