Overview

Paul Declerck is author of a new book on wine scoring. The book is called How to Appreciate Wine and explains Paul's Five Point Method.

In this interview we discuss different rating systems for wines created and used by wine critics to evaluate wines and score them for consumers. Robert Parker scores out of 100, and Jancis Robinson scores out of 20. After researching how ratings are calculated, Paul has developed his own Five Point Method giving up to a 100 point maximum score, covering 5 components:

1. Intensity of the nose
2. Complexity
3. Intensity of palate
4. Balance
5. Finish
