New patch claims to stop hangovers before they start
A patch that claims to 'stop hangovers before they start' by feeding the body vitamins while you drink is now on sale in the UK after being launched in the US last year. It won't help dehydration (you need to drink plenty of water while using it) but it will deliver a cocktail of vitamins continuously to the bloodstream.
The Bytox Hangover Prevention Patch, invented by plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr Leonard Grossman, claims to replace vitamins and acids that are lost through drinking alcohol and thus prevent a hangover. The ingredients are B vitamins, acai berry, vitamins A, D, E and K and folic acid but the patch has yet to receive any official medical backing in the US or the UK.
Firebox.com is selling the patch in the UK and it is listed as the number 1 gift in their Top 10 but stock wasn't readily available to order at the time of writing this article. The marketing describes the patch as “Easily applied, infused with a powerful blend of vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants which are absorbed whilst imbibing, meaning a faster recovery time.” 5 patches cost £12.99 and a pack of 10 is £19.99. A perfect Christmas gift wouldn't you say - assuming you can get hold of them!
