Drunk gambler sues casino for letting him do what he wanted to do
A gambler who had rather a few too many drinks and went on to lose $500,000 at a Las Vegas casino is suing the casino for allowing him to gamble.
Mark Johnston, a regular in Las Vegas, says he was invited to town by the newly-opened Downtown Grand for the weekend and was served 20 drinks while he was gambling, having already had 10 before arriving at the gambling tables which led him to become, in his lawyer’s words, “blackout intoxicated”.
Under Nevada’s gambling laws casino employees are not allowed to let patrons who are visibly drunk gamble. The Grand is apparently countersuing Johnston for not paying his debts.
