IWC 2014 results
Congratulations to Bibendum who won Wine Educator of the year this year at last nights IWC merchant awards ceremony in London, one of our preferred suppliers, Chris and I were there to watch the awards and catch up with some old friends in the industry. Marks and Spencer and Liberty Wines won several awards each but top prize went to Berry Bros and Rudd who picked up IWC Merchant of the Year 2014. They employ 8 Masters of Wine, more than any other UK company! Suprise of the night was Oddbins, who have had a turbulent couple of years - they scooped the High Street Chain of the Year. The five winemakers of the year were IWC White Winemaker Burgundy-based La Chablisienne. Red winemaker was awarded to Domaine de La Vougeraie. English winemaker Camel Valley lost out to Charles Heidsieck for IWC Sparkling Winemaker of the Year. Sweet wine maker of the year went to Weingut Horst Sauer and Fortified wine maker went to Emilio Lustau the Spanish sherry producer. The Lifetime achievement award went to Charles Back from South African based Fairview. Sainsbury's and Tesco both won awards for great value and if you fancy some fizz this weekend get down to Sainsbury’s for their Taste the Difference Conegliano Prosecco Superiore DOCG Brut 2013 which retails at £10 and received the IWC Great Value Champion Sparkling award.
