2014 Bordeaux en premier
En Primeur started their releases last week. With everyone eagerly watching the prices. En primeur or wine futures, is a method of purchasing wines early while a vintage is still in a barrel, offering the customer the opportunity to invest in a particular wine before it is bottled and released.
Several key estates increased prices by between 15% and 25% on their 2013 vintage. Some merchants were concerned about the small quantities of wine thatwere being released by some estates.
Pomerol estate l'Eglise Clinet emerged at 132Euros a bottle a 24% increase on it's 2013 prices, the highest climb so far by a chateaux on either side of the Gironde. The first Sauternnes estate were Climens up 13.5% . Margaux matched the releases of Mouton Rothschild and Haut-Brion for first growths with an 11% increase up to 240Euros per bottles - the same price as 2012.
