Treasury Wine Estates to take over Diageos wine business
The Australian company Treasury Wine Estates is set to buy Diageo's wine business for £361m. The sale includes the UK based Fox businesses and its US based Chateau and Estate wines. Diageo also own Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff and Guinness and the lower end wine business Blossom Hill. Diageo is selling its wine brands as part of a shakeup in the business. TWE said the purchase will transform their US business into a larger player of scale, in the high-growth US market.
