New export goals for UK wine industry
A recent round table with environment secretary Elizabeth Truss and the UK Wine Industry has set new targets for UK wine exports. Together they have pledged to increase export volumes from 250,000 bottles to 2.5million bottles by 2020. The amount of planted vineyard area will go from 2k hectares to 3k hectares and the government have pledged to help the industry identify an additional 75,000 acres across the country. The UK wine industry has been going from strength to strength in recent years with records sales of £100m in 2015.
