Large glasses make you drink more

Researchers at the University of Cambridge have found serving wine in a larger glass appears to make people drink faster and therefore consume more. A pub in Cambridge agreed to test the theory. 370ml and 250ml glasses were trialled and over 16 weeks the study found that people consumed around a tenth more wine if they had been served with the larger glass size. The amount of wine served was the same but the glasses were different. But people didn't drink correspondingly less if they had the 250ml glass. The reason is believed to be that the larger glasses change our perception of the amount of wine leading us to drink faster and order more.
