Scotland could ban alcohol in sports sponsor deals

Scotland launches consultation on banning alcohol sponsorship in sports and live events.

The consultation, which closes on the 9th March, has caused uproar amongst Scotland’s drinks companies that currently employ 88,700 people in Scotland and contributes £6.1bn to the economy each year.

Research has shown wine has been the big winner with minimum pricing. The department of health released a report on its effect and while all alcohol consumption has dropped by 3%, wine has actually grown by 1%, with fortified wine seeing a massive 15% growth.
