International Grenache Day 15th September
Jumping on the bandwagon of a day for everything, it’s international Grenache Day on the 15th September, when producers will be highlighting the versatility of this grape.
Known for producing wines with high alcohol, low tannins and colour, Grenache is a popular blending partner. It prefers warm climates and is drought tolerant making it ideal for the South of France, Rioja & Navarra and Australia. It is also being produced in unlikely places such as Washington’s Red Mountain and California’s Paso Robles. Its lack of acidity means early picking is common when using it to produce rose wines where it is often blended.
