Short measures for UK drinkers
UK drinkers are coming up short when ordering wine from pubs and bars.
The Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) has revealed that 70% of beer and wine served in UK pubs and bars is short-measured.
Wine is typically 5% short when ordering in a 175ml glass, according to the CTSI. Their survey of 17 drinks in 77 pubs and bars showed a systemic bias to under serving drinkers. Some pubs came up significantly short, with the most under-poured drink was found in Walsall, West Midlands, which was short by 15%, or 26ml.
