Laudun gains prestigious Côtes du Rhône Cru status
The Laudun wine region has gained prestigious Côtes du Rhône Cru status, having been officially recognized as the 18th Cru of the Côtes du Rhône appellation, promoted from Côtes du Rhône Villages. Its first vintage under the Cru classification is set for 2024. After over a decade of effort, this marks a milestone for the region’s winemakers, bringing in a new era of elevated status.
The National Institute for Origin and Quality (INAO) approved Laudun’s communal appellation after years of dedication by local producers to improve wine quality. Particularly known for its white wines, which make up 32% of production, Laudun is poised to meet growing consumer demand for lighter styles.
The new Cru status is expected to heighten Laudun's reputation both domestically and internationally, starting with its debut at Wine Paris in February 2025. Local businesses also anticipate a boost in wine tourism, drawing enthusiasts eager to explore this emerging wine region.
