UK vintage outstanding quality
UK wine producers are celebrating after Wine GB declared the 2025 harvest a “vintage of outstanding quality” following a long, warm summer that allowed grapes to ripen fully and early. Yields are expected to match the national 10-year average.
Wine GB’s Harvest Yield Survey 2025, covering 2,063 hectares, shows 2025 could be one of the finest years for UK wines. Early picking began in late August due to the hottest summer on record, with most grapes harvested by early October. CEO Nicola Bates said the results reflect the sector’s resilience and promise exciting prospects for English and Welsh wines.
Experts highlight exceptional potential for still wines, particularly Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, while sparkling wines are expected to be released sooner than usual. With exports up 35% and steady growth over five years, British wine is enjoying momentum and rising international recognition.
