Pub up for sale in £10 raffle
A pub licensee has launched the ultimate pub quiz – offering the lease to his pub as the prize in a competition that costs just £10 to enter.
The winner of the quiz will be selected at random from all those who answer two questions correctly and John Faulder, the current tenant of the Filly Inn near Lymington, is hoping to sell 52,000 tickets.
If not enough tickets are sold to make the transfer of the pub worthwhile, the winner will instead be awarded a cash prize funded by the proceeds from ticket sales.
The pub’s landlord Punch Taverns said the winner would be required to fulfil the criteria of any new Punch licensee which includes the provision of a strong business plan, credit checks and ingoing capital.
John Faulder is adamant the pub is thriving in spite of the credit crunch and the idea is not just a publicity stunt to offload a struggling pub.
