Rosé stays traditional

EU plans to allow red and white wines to be blended to make rosé have been dropped after months of lobbying from wine producers who argued that it would undermine the value and image of the traditional method of macerating the grapes used in France, Italy and across Europe.

Blending is legal in Champagne and in the New World and it was thought the change would allow EU producers to compete more effectively with New World rosé producers.
