Switch or Bust message to Riverland wineries
With tough times ahead for South Australia's Riverland wine growers, new alternatives need to be found or they face the alternative. Grape prices are low and a recent report had shown that 94% of grape growers in the Riverland were unprofitable. Many growers are now looking to move over to dried fruit production such as raisins as the transition is easy and the set-up quite similar such as trellising and similar machinery requirements. A spokesperson from the Dried Fruits Australia said that there were good returns to be made from this type of crop.
