London Restaurant prices savaged by The Spectator

Bruce Palling, the food and wine writer for The Spectator, has slammed London as the rip off capital of the wine world. Palling was using his column The Wine List to regale against extortionate mark ups in many London restaurants and bars some four or five times the retail price. Typically London on-trade wines are prices at three times the retail prices. He singled out Nobu and Jason Atherton's Social Wine and Tapas for criticism and, outside of London, The Fat Duck in Berkshire. Palling's solution, which won't go down well with many establishments, is to find out if your favourite restaurant does corkage!
