Oddbins store closures

It has been reported that the wine retailer Oddbins has closed it’s remaining stores, although online sales continue.

According to Harpers, mass closures have been reported across the company’s 15-strong portfolio in recent days. Harpers has contacted the majority of stores across London, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Liverpool by phone and has been unable to reach anyone, with many lines disconnected.

Oddbins was the darling of the wine industry in its hey day with highly trained staff and at its height, 278 stores nationwide. They were known for seeking out and selling quirky and unusual wines but got into financial trouble due to high debt levels and had been downsizing for a long time.
