Laetitia Terry, sommelier at Jaboulet, talks to us about the Northern Rhone looking at the soils, climate and aspect of vineyards in Cote Rotie, Condrieu (white wine/Viognier only) and St Joseph (white or red appellation). We finish the interview talking about the fine wine region of Crozes-Hermitage and a lesser known region Cornas, located further south which is 100% Syrah. The vineyards are much higher up, as high as 420m altitude, the wines are dark, full-bodied and powerful, known locally as 'the hunter wine' after the tradition for hunting in the region.
I thought the questions were excellent, an extremely valuable revision tool. They really helped highlight areas I thought I had revised and understood but clearly had not, which has enabled me to focus on key areas to revisit and study before going into the exam... I think it is a great resource and an essential revision aid for any WSET 3 students wishing to gain a competitive edge and successfully pass the WSET 3 exam.
