Italy now world's biggest wine producer
Italy has overtaken France as the largest wine producer in the world. The Italians are expecting a 50.37 million hectolitre harvest in 2015-2016. This is a growth of 6 million hectolitres on last year. Whilst Italy's production has grown, France's volumes have fallen by 1% putting them in 2nd place with Spain 3rd. English wine is growing with an expected growth of 4.4% with 47,000 hl putting us at 17 out of 23 countries. Still some way to go!
