D1: Viti Approaches: Bacakground: Natural Wine Part 2 with Doug Wregg from Les Caves de Pyrene
Doug Wregg is Sales & Marketing Director at Les Caves de Pyrene, independent wine importers and wholesalers. They are supporters of ‘natural wines’ which are wines made with minimal intervention in the vineyard and throughout the winemaking process.
In the second interview with Doug we find out the Loire is the home of natural wine growers (about 40% of 250-300 growers who fall under this natural wine umbrella). While the domestic French market is the biggest, there’s a growing interest from Japanese consumers and, the USA and Australia are importing natural wines and even making some. There are also a number of natural wine bars popping up in Sydney and London – head to Terroir in Charing Cross, a bar owned by Les Caves de Pyrene.
I thought the questions were excellent, an extremely valuable revision tool. They really helped highlight areas I thought I had revised and understood but clearly had not, which has enabled me to focus on key areas to revisit and study before going into the exam... I think it is a great resource and an essential revision aid for any WSET 3 students wishing to gain a competitive edge and successfully pass the WSET 3 exam.
