D3: Loire: Bacakground: Muscadet Overview with Pierre Jean Sauvion from Chateau du Cleray
Chateau de Cleray was established in 1935 by Jean Pierre's great grandfather and taken over by Grand Chateau France in 2007 with Jean Pierre as winemaker. Jean Pierre is also the Loire specialist for the Grand Chateau France group. He tells us about the region of Muscadet Sevre et Maine (two rivers feeding into the Loire) and the three grape varieties which are grown on his vineyards which are: Melon de Bourgogne (also known as Muscadet/Melon Blanc) which accounts for 70% of the plantings, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc which are used for IGP/Domaine wines.
I thought the questions were excellent, an extremely valuable revision tool. They really helped highlight areas I thought I had revised and understood but clearly had not, which has enabled me to focus on key areas to revisit and study before going into the exam... I think it is a great resource and an essential revision aid for any WSET 3 students wishing to gain a competitive edge and successfully pass the WSET 3 exam.
