Aperol Spritz the drink of the moment
Campari Group's Aperol, the bitter-sweet orange aperitif, is meeting increased competition as Aperol Spritz becomes the latest wine-based drinks craze.
Aperol is Campari's largest brand in their portfolio and was made popular as a mixer for an Aperol Spritz the bright orange drink that is made with Aperol, Prosecco, a dash of soda and ice.
The drink has become so popular in Europe that competing drinks giants have launched their own versions. In the last month Anheuser-Busch inBev has launched its Pre Aperitivo Spritz and Bacardi is rolling out its own orange flavoured aperitif, Martini Fiero in the UK, Belgium and Spain following the launch last year in Italy, Germany and France. In 2017 Pernod Ricard launched Jacob's Creek Prosecco Spritz in Australia which reached the UK market in 2018.
